The idea of weaving was generally brought from Spain by the famous traveler Marco Polo. According to the European history, the most impeccable styles like French Savonnerie and Aubusson were originated from Europe during 17th and 18th centuries. In 1628 the French Savonnerie was established in Paris. The vivid picture of antique rugs like Savonnerie represents their glories of the age today. They mostly used floral wreath, natural flowers and decorative motifs to produce elegant Savonnerie antique rugs. Abusson styles are the other kind of Antique rugs were expectedly established in 1743. However with the beginning of a royal rug and carpet factory their initial productions were Turkish and Smyrna rugs. In fact these designs were not intricate profoundly. Later, a new style was implemented here, based off of Savonerie, to be less distracting. |
